Awning Wind Sensor Issues with Somfy Wind Sensors can be frustrating at times if you don't know a few tricks. Most issues we hear about from our customers are that the awning or shade keeps closing after a set period of time-say 15 minutes, 20 minutes, or every 30 minutes or so even if the air is still and there is no wind at all. The reason for this is simple, and there are a few ways to fix it. First of all, the reason the shade product or awning is closing is because the wind (motion) sensor has lost communication with the motor. The motor tries to protect the product by closing. This is a good thing but can become very annoying if it keeps happening seemingly at random times. First attempt to cure the issue is to replace the batteries-with Alkaline Batteries! (This should be done once a year - more often in extreme hot or humid environments). Make sure to follow the diagram on the insert for polarity so you know how to properly orient the batteries. This may sound elementary, but the spring side for the batteries are not both for the negative or ground side of the battery. (One is reversed) so please pay attention to the + and - signs on the battery holder.
The next step would be to reprogram the sensor to make sure is can "talk" to the motor. Push and hold a pen or paper clip to the rear program button on the remote and hold it unit the motor jogs (turns quickly in one then the other direction) then within a minute or so push the small button on the circuit board.
